Killarney Celtic rounded off their regular season with a hard-fought draw against locals MEK.

Celtic took a while to settle in this game and MEK were clearly up for the challenge. However as the half went on Celtic grew in influence in the game in both possession and opportunities created. Dara Horan down the left worked a good ball to Samuel Scroope in the box but he couldn't pull off a strike when well positioned. Shortly after, a great move by Celtic down the right hand side culminated with James Murphy’s pass to Sam inside the box but he was well smothered. With about 5 minutes remaining in the half, against a run of play MEK took the lead, when Celtic failed to clear a thrown ball down their right hand side. The MEK striker cut inside and finished very well from the edge of the box, giving Ryan Lucy in goal no chance. Celtic nearly levelled matters before the half time whistle, when an excellent true ball from Luca Mosca released Sam, and while it looked like he was fouled while shooting his shot was well saved by the MEK keeper.

Celtic regrouped in the second half and again continued to dominate most of the clear chances in the game.

Samuel was denied at least three times in the second half twice with his head and once from an acute angle on the left when the keeper made a great save. Iggy went close when Samuel turned provider from the right. One of the qualities developing in this young Celtic group is their resiliency and the lads fought and fought to get a foothold in the game. In the final 5 minutes, Celtic got some reward for their efforts when a set piece was tenaciously kept in play by Ignacy Truchan and a ball back into the box was prodded home by Jack Culloty to level matters. Celtic continued to press for a winner but with time running out a draw was the final result in a very entertaining top tier game.

👏Thanks to Tom Kerrisk (ref) and to the supporters from both clubs.

👏Well done boys and management
