The Kerry schoolboys and girls soccer league played their first match in Copa Costa Brava cup today in temperatures of 22 degrees. They won the match with our own Michelle O’Connor scoring and an assist by our own Amelia Carroll Kelly.

Great start to our trip in Barcelona, playing in the Eurosporting tournament.

The girls from the very start put pressure in the opposition and pressed as high as they could, with the opposition stuck in their own half for much of the 1st half, they defended brilliantly and it took a great through ball from Amelia Kelly to Niamh Fitzgibbon who finished superbly to give us a deserved 1-0 lead heading in to half time.

2nd half.

We made 5 subs at half time and this paid off immediately, with fresh legs Michelle O’Connor chased down a ball played into the box, controlled it and then lashed it into the net.

The game finished 2-0 with the Kerry team seeing out the 2nd half in a very controlled fashion.
