🙍♂️🏆KSBGL U12 Boys John Murphy Cup/Shield Preliminary Round Result
🇳🇬U12 Boys Hoops 0-6 MEK A
🙍♂️ MOM Dylan Brosnan but all the lads worked their socks off.
Celtic u12 Hoops welcomed MEK A to Celtic Park in the John Murphy Cup/Shield. There was a definite gulf in class, but the boys battled hard throughout. MEK took control early on and but for some strong defence by Dylan Brosnan and Conor Clifford they would have led. The goal finally came on 8 mins, Donnacha Lynch made a great save but the rebound was tucked home. They quickly added a 2nd from distance. The boys heads never dropped and some good interplay between Ryan Lowe and Cian O Connell put Dwayne Koeller in but his shot was just wide. It was soon 3 nil when Celtic failed to clear a corner and MEK added 2 more before the break to leave it 5-0.
The 2nd half was a different story. Celtic created an early chance when Cian O'Connell forced a great save. The defence of James Courtney, Jack Galvin Joey Enright and Jack Halloran were solid and when MEK did break through Joey O'Connor made some good stops. Denis Kennealy was getting on a lot of ball and when he burst through the defence he was hauled down but the keeper made a great save from Ryan Lowes spot kick. Dwayne had another chance but was again denied by the keeper. Evan Brosnan and Jason Maloney were battling hard to keep MEK out and Dylan Brosnan was solid as a rock at center back. MEK did add a 6th on the stroke of full time. The lads deserved a goal and they will have learned a lot from this defeat.
👏Thanks to MEK for a sporting game and best of luck in the next round.
👏Thanks to the ref also.
