🙎♀️Player of the match: Olga Kumor.
In a tight exciting game that finished with the dreaded penalty shoot out, the girls were unlucky to lose out tonight.
With Aimee Shine and Evelyn Grimes solid in defence all through limiting a tough physical Killarney Athletic side to only a few chances.
Jaylinn O’Leary at left back goes from strength to strength and let nothing past her down her wing all night.
Celtic went a goal up midway through the first half when a lovely floating cross from right back Nell Casey found Olga Kumor who was charging through the centre. She met the ball beautifully lobbing it over the onrushing keeper.
Early in the second half Celtic had a lot of procession in the middle third with Seodhna O’Sullivan and Clodagh O’Connor working particularly hard but Athletic never gave up and frustrated Celtic at every turn.
A penalty midway through the second half brought the teams level.
Celtic again created some chances down the flanks with Mia Cox and the fresh Eliza Mosca making space.
Eliza Mosca was extremely unlucky to have her shot go over the bar from close range in the last few minutes.
Niamh O’Leary worked desperately hard when she came on.
In extra time there was again nothing between the teams. Molly Philpott worked hard as she alternated between striker and midfield.
A special mention should go to the penalty takers Olga Kumor, Evelyn Grimes, Seodhna O’Sullivan and Niamh O’Leary who showed exceptional bravery and courage to step up tonight and take the spot kicks on behalf of her teammates.
👏Best of luck to Killarney Athletic in the final.
👏Thanks to the ref.
