The Celtics met in the 1/4 final of the John Murphy Cup on a lovely evening in Listowel. Killarney started well on a tight pitch facing a good Listowel team. 1st half Jake Scannell hit the bar and almost put another effort in the top corner. Dylan McCarthy who was exceptional tested the goalie and shaved the post. Solid at the back but Ryan Cronin (captain) was called into action to stop a powerful shot.
2nd half the boys went up a level. Listowel defended well, looked to break and played some super football but Cillian Daly, Andrew Daly Jamie Downing, Andrew O'Sullivan, Rory Murphy and Padraig O'Sullivan helped get clean sheet and played some excellent balls out and to the wings. The goal came when Erik Dominguez found Rowan Murphy and his shot took a deflection into the net. Dylan almost grabbed a 2nd and Sam Fleury was a threat as we pushed for 2nd goal. Josh Buckley was excellent on the right wing all evening , he and several of the boys could have been Motm. But Rowan gets it with goal and super midfield play.
On to the Semi final Saturday for this resilient group of boys.
