Today we created more history by becoming double champions of Kerry.
This was extra special though as we came up against a tough Kenmare team who don't get beaten easily.
The game started at a fast pace and with the strong wind helping the Celtic team in the 1st half we found it difficult to get the weight of pass right for our forwards to get onto.
We moved our Captain Katie Doe from midfield into the lone striker role after 15mins and soon after she found herself 1 v1 against the keeper and finished superbly.
Half time 1-0.
2nd half we really started to play well and with Norma Mahony and Sarah Warren controlling midfield with their hard pressing and excellent passing we soon found ourselves in some great scoring positions, up stepped Ali Bowler who beat the defence and hit a great shot with her left boot only for the keeper to pull off a super save but the hard running Ciara forde was following in and made no mistake in burying the ball into the net for her 1st ever goal for Killarney Celtic.
Next up one of our longest serving players Abbie Finnan broke in from the left side beat the offside trap and hit a sweet strike with her left foot and sealed the win for Celtic.
Mike and I are so proud of these players.
Hopefully season more teams will enter the league after seeing what a success this season has been.
On the senior side of our club the second cup of the season goes to our Senior Women’s Team. Our Senior Women have just gone and done the double in their first season. League and Cup Winners. Amazing season ladies, Dave MacIndoe and Michael Casey. You are a credit to our club.
